What is a Patient Group Direction and when can it be used?

A Patient Group Direction (PGD) is a written instruction from a dentist (or other approved prescriber) that allows dental hygienists and therapists to sell, supply or administer named medicines without the need for a patient-specific prescription. To be valid, PGDs must include specific information, and they can only be used in certain situations.

See our quick guide on PGDs for more info or call us for individual advice.
