Fairness is a common theme in conversations about the dento-legal climate. Dental professionals expect to be held accountable, but they want the rules and systems that apply to them to be fair and proportionate.

As ever, the DDU has been at the forefront in articulating members' concerns. And while new curbs on excessive fees and a GDC pilot to lessen the burden of fitness to practise investigations are important wins, our work on behalf of the profession doesn't stop there.

In the autumn '23 issue of the DDU journal, we shine a light on how we're fighting for a fairer deal for members by championing their cause in the wider working and regulatory environment.
