Can I confirm to a patient's school that they have attended an appointment during the school day?

You should not give out information without the permission of the patient (if they have capacity) or someone with parental authority. It is generally up to schools to confirm that a child has booked or attended a dental appointment with someone who has parental responsibility for the child.

You can find further advice on releasing confidential information in the DDU guide to confidentiality.
