2016 presented many uncertainties and challenges to medical and dental professionals, with financial, political and professional pressures weighing heavily on those working hard to provide a consistently high standard of care.
Members rely on us to guide, support and defend them in the course of their work, and during 2016 we handled almost 30,000 calls to our 24-hour advice line. Furthermore, we successfully defended 85% of the medical claims that closed during the year, and more than 92% of GMC cases handled by our in-house lawyers were resolved without a formal hearing.
