The Memorandum and Articles of Association are, together, the company's constitution.
The Memorandum was the document signed by the founding members in 1885, recording their intention to form the company as a mutual organisation to protect the interests of doctors.
The Articles are the regulations or bye-laws that set out rules governing the way the company is run and the relationship between the company and its members.
